Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the statistics of the participating projects from different governorates in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects today, September 11, 2022, which continues to be submitted until September 18, on the initiative’s website www.sgg.eg.
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and supervisor of the initiative said that the initiative comes within the framework of Egypt’s leading role in the field of sustainable development.
She further noted that the state attaches great importance to the localization of sustainable development goals at the governorate level.


El-Said added that the aforementioned initiative is “unprecedented” at the global level, as it focuses on implementation and application on the ground. 
She explained that the initiative emphasizes the seriousness of dealing with the environmental dimension and climate change within the framework of achieving sustainable development goals and digital transformation by presenting projects that achieve these goals.

The ministry stated in a statement issued today; The total number of projects submitted for the initiative from all governorates of the Republic to date; reached 4786 projects, as the number of projects in the category of large projects reached 554 projects, in the category of medium projects 931 projects, and 563 projects in the category of small local projects, while the number of projects in the category of non-profit projects reached 1457 projects, and in the category of startups projects to 455 projects and the category of development projects related to women, climate change and sustainability to 826 projects.


Gharbia Governorate ranked first among all governorates of the Republic in the total number of projects participating in the initiative, followed by the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Qalyubia, Assiut, Aswan, Minya, Dakahlia, Red Sea, New Valley, Ismailia, Sohag, Beheira, Sharkia, South Sinai, Menoufia, Qena, Beni Suef, Kafr El Sheikh, Port Said, Damietta, Luxor, Fayoum, Matrouh, Suez, North Sinai.
Gharbia Governorate also ranked first in the number of participating projects in the categories of small local projects, non-profit projects, development projects related to women, climate change, and sustainability. While Cairo Governorate ranked first in the number of participants in the categories of large projects, medium projects, and start-up projects.
