The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development holds a workshop for its representatives in the executive committees of the governorates of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects

Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held on Thursday a workshop for representatives of the ministry in the executive committees of the different governorates of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects.The workshop witnessed the presence of Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Coordinator of International Conferences at the Ministry and General Coordinator of the Initiative, and Eng. Khaled Mustafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning. Present at the workshop was Dr. Mohamed Mohamedy, Director of Evaluation for the Egypt Award for Government Excellence and member of the National Committee for the Initiative.During the opening of the workshop, Ambassador Hisham Badr stressed that the initiative aims to spread social awareness about the challenges of climate change and the capabilities of modern technologies, and to develop a map of green and smart projects at the governorate level, linking them to funding agencies and attracting the necessary investments for them, from home and abroad.
For his part, Eng. Khaled Mostafa said that the initiative aims to ensure the seriousness of dealing with the environmental dimension and climate changes within the framework of achieving sustainable development goals and digital transformation that the Egyptian state seeks to achieve by presenting projects that achieve these goals, stressing that the sustainable development goals will not be achieved without the support of everyone., whether individuals or institutions.
During the workshop, Dr. Muhammad Mohammadi reviewed an overview of the initiative, its objectives, project evaluation mechanisms, and target groups, explained the criteria on which projects will be evaluated in the initiative, and defined the role and tasks of the ministry's representatives in the initiative's executive committees.
It is noteworthy that the executive committees of the initiative in the different governorates headed by the governor are formed following the decision of the Prime Minister, representatives from each of the ministries of planning, environment and communications, civil society, and the National Council for Women.
