The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a report on the objectives of the plan for the current fiscal year 22/2023 in the field of urban development.
H.E. El-Said added that the urban activities are characterized by their dynamic and fast-growing nature, in addition to the effectiveness of their influence in advancing the wheel of growth under their multiplicity of fields, diversity, and geographical extension, and is a common denominator and an essential component in the investments of all economic sectors. El-Said indicated that the total investments for the urban development sector amounted to EGP 294.2 billion or 21% of the total investments for the 22/2023 plan.
Investments directed to real estate projects come at the forefront at a rate of about 53.7% (EGP 157.9 billion), compared to about 35.1% for water and sanitation (EGP 103.4 billion), and 11.2% for construction and building works (EGP 32.9 billion).

The plan for the year 22/2023 also aims to increase the GDP of the urban development sector by 16.3% to reach about EGP 1955.5 billion, compared to EGP 1681.7 billion during the year 21/2022.
This is due to the continuation of the implementation of many major national projects and the expansion of housing projects implemented by the government.
The report reviewed the sector's achievements in 2021, represented in preparing plans for about 238,000 housing units within the various axes of the presidential initiative "Housing for All Egyptians" allocated to citizens of different income groups.
