The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development launched on Wednesday the virtual training program for members of the executive committees in the governorates of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development.The launch events witnessed the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN High-Level Climate Change Champion for Egypt and the head of the jury at the national level for smart green projects in the initiative. The launch of the program also witnessed the presence of Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Coordinator of the initiative, Eng. Khaled Mustafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning, Dr. Rasha Ragheb, Executive Director of the National Training Academy, Dr. Hisham El Helbawy, Assistant Minister of Local Development, and members of the initiative’s executive committees in the governorates.

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and supervisor of the initiative stressed the importance of the initiative, which extends to all governorates. El-Said pointed out that the initiative comes within the framework of Egypt's leading role in sustainable development, and the state attaches importance to the localization of sustainable development goals at the governorate level.
She explained that the initiative emphasizes the seriousness of dealing with the environmental dimension and climate changes through projects that achieve these goals.
Moreover, El-Said announced that the door to progress for smart and green projects will be opened on the initiative's platform, starting on August 21.
 



During his opening speech, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin said that the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects is unprecedented in the world in the context of preparations for the Climate Summit.
Mohieldin pointed out that the initiative provides a pioneering model that can be used globally in organizing the upcoming climate summits by linking climate action investments in the fields of energy and protecting sectors exposed to harmful influences with the localization of sustainable development and digital transformation.
For his part, Ambassador Hisham Badr indicated that the national initiative for smart green projects will be implemented in all governorates as a pioneering initiative in the field of sustainable and smart development and dealing with the environmental dimension and the effects of climate change.Badr added that the initiative is a unique and unprecedented opportunity nationally and internationally, as it focuses on implementing and implementing projects on the ground in the context of Egypt's readiness to host COP 27 and the importance the state attaches to the localization of sustainable development goals at the governorate level.Meanwhile, Dr. Rasha Ragheb stressed the importance of a kind of integration between the roles of bodies, agencies, and institutions in this initiative. Ragheb indicated the academy's interest in human capital reform, and the academy's readiness to provide all efforts for the owners of smart green projects in the initiative, whether from the training or marketing aspect.
Dr. Hisham Al-Helbawi, Assistant Minister of Local Development, pointed out the importance of having strong centers in the governorates, as there can be no complete local development work without the presence of strong centers.Dr. Basant Salah El-Din, who is responsible for following up and evaluating training programs at the Ministry of Communications, reviewed the ministry's role in raising awareness for all groups benefiting from the initiative
