During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed the preparations for the COP 27 Climate Change Conference, referring to the youth activities carried out by the Ministry in the various development and awareness fields.
El-Said pointed to the role of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the ministry - and the training programs and grants it provides to young people, explaining that since 2020, NIGSD’s tasks have been changed to carry out the awareness-raising process for the issue of sustainable development and the issue of governance at the national level.During the meeting, El-Said stressed the importance of localizing the sustainable development goals at the governorate level, noting that Egypt is one of the first countries in the world that worked to localize the 17 sustainable development goals, so that each governorate - especially among young people as a major component - has sufficient information about those goals within their provinces. The Minister of Planning and Economic Development referred to the file of developing the Egyptian family, controlling population growth rates, and upgrading the characteristics of the population, which the ministry handles in coordination with some ministries, pointing to the importance of the role of youth in this context, as clubs have been started to raise awareness of the population issue.

For his part, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi affirmed the permanent readiness to coordinate any activity related to youth, pointing to the importance of capacity-building programs and youth rehabilitation, and building the Egyptian person by improving the health pattern.
The Minister of Youth and Sports also referred to the preparations being made to complete the youth city in Sharm El Sheikh, which is an edifice for Egyptian and African youth.
The Minister of Youth pointed out that Egypt is hosting the COY17 Climate Youth Conference, which is being held on the sidelines of the Summit of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change COP27.
The Climate Youth Conference includes about 1,500 young men and women from different countries of the world who are active in the field of climate.
The Minister of Youth and Sports also stressed that the COY17 Climate Youth Conference is a new opportunity for the world's youth to meet in the land of Egypt, which proves that Egypt is the meeting ground for young people from all over the world.
He pointed out that the COY Climate Youth Conference is held in the same city as the Conference of Parties and precedes it by several days, and a document that represents the voice of the world's youth emerges from it and is submitted and presented to the Conference of Parties (COP).

The meeting was attended by Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), Dr. Mona Essam, Head of the Sustainable Development Unit, Dr. Ghada Khalil, Director of the Rowad 2030 Project, and Dr. Mohamed Alaa, Head of the Human Rights Unit.
