01 August 2022

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, has launched training activities for the fourth batch of the Qualifying Women's Executive Leadership Program in the governorates.Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, confirmed that the issue of gender equality and women's empowerment received a large share of the political leadership's attention, which was reflected in Egypt's Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Women's Empowerment 2030.Sherifa explained that the Women's Leaders Program aims to empower promising leaders and hone their expertise in dealing with contemporary challenges for government work, improving institutional performance, and contributing to supporting government performance.
She pointed out that the first batch of the program for qualifying executive women leaders in the governorates graduated in July 2019 at the level of Cairo and Giza governorates.
Sherifa pointed out that the second batch graduated in February 2020 at the level of five other governorates, and the third batch graduated at the level of five governorates: Cairo, Beheira, Damietta, Dakahlia, and Gharbia; This brings the total of graduates to about 500 women leaders in 12 governorates.
Sherifa added that training activities for the fourth batch of the Women's Leaders Program will be implemented in several governorates: Kafr El-Sheikh, Ismailia, Sharkia, Cairo, Fayoum, Menoufia, and Suez.
Sherifa indicated that the total number of participants in the fourth batch was 203 women and that the training lasted for 20 lecturers, including 15 lectures in the training halls and five online lectures over three months.
Sherifa explained that the training program focuses on some basic topics such as strategic management and planning, administrative decision-making, teamwork, communication skills, workforce management, external environment and corporate culture, work ethics and code of conduct, technology management, and innovation, and others.
It is worth noting that the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development launched, last March, the activities of the third edition of the African Women Leaders Program.
This is in cooperation with the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development (EAPD), the development arm of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and training is conducted through the ATINGI e-learning platform for some women working in leadership positions in African countries.
