The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by Aya Nawar, Deputy Head of the Sustainable Development Unit, participated in the workshop organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in cooperation with the Mauritanian government.
The workshop is entitled “Capacity building and support for the development of an action plan to integrate principles of social justice and localize sustainable development goals”.
It took place in Nouadhibou, Mauritania.
The workshop aimed to enhance the capacities of officials at the local level in integrating the principles of social justice through the development, implementation, and follow-up of development plans and programs in localities.
Aya Nawar, Deputy Head of the Sustainable Development Unit, at the Ministry of Planning during the workshop reviewed international (UN Agenda 2030), regional (Africa Agenda 2063), and national (Egypt Vision 2030) frameworks that lead the development process in Egypt.
Nawar referred to the international and regional reports that Egypt is keen to prepare to follow up on the progress made in achieving sustainable development, including voluntary national reports (VNRs) and reports to follow up on progress in achieving the African Agenda 2063.
Nawar also shed light on the most important efforts made by Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, within the framework of settling sustainable development goals at the governorate level, including the financing equation in the governorates and the governorate competitiveness index.
Moreover, Nawar drew attention to the practical application of Emiratisation through the "Decent Life" initiative, which serves most of the sustainable development goals.
