The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held a workshop entitled "The Egyptian Government's Role in Developing Government Services and Information Infrastructure" as part of the activities of the fifth summer training session for university students.


H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stressed the ministry’s endeavor to achieve a future development vision that ensures that Egypt has a comprehensive planning system designed following the best practices and international standards to support sustainable development efforts and strategic directions.


For his part, Engineer Ashraf Abdul Hafeez, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, referred to the goals of developing government services, which are to increase the government’s effectiveness in achieving principles of social justice, providing a full vision to support decision-making, providing services to citizens in an easy way, as well as making the most of the benefits. National income and rationalization of government spending.


Abdul Hafeez explained that the axes of developing government services are represented in the development of government services, which include local services, services of new urban communities, health services, and initiatives, and the development of means of providing government services.


During the workshop, Major General Mahmoud Diab, Director of Regional and Service Projects at the Ministry, reviewed the elements of providing government services, which include the outlets and platform for providing government services, mobile applications, and the spatial information infrastructure platform.

Diab referred to the services of the new urban communities, where 22 technology centers were developed at the level of new urban cities, providing 144 services, most notably the request to receive a housing unit or a plot of land and the request for payment of installments, in addition to the completion of the design of the electronic services portal and the development of 40 services.



Brigadier General Mohamed Abdel Azim, director of the spatial information infrastructure project at the ministry, referred to the spatial information infrastructure integration project (for the Egyptian planning system), in cooperation with the Military Survey Department.


On the importance of integrating the spatial information infrastructure for the benefit of the Egyptian planning system, Abdel Azim explained that it is to follow up on the detailed performance of state projects and assets, good use of resources, and rationalization of government spending.
