The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issues a report on the data and foundations of the economic and social development plan for FY 2022/23

Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued recently a report on the data and pillars of the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year (22/2023), as part of its annual reports series that review the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year.
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, explained that the pre-preparation of the plan document for the year 22/2023 was carried out for six months, which included the last quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, which represents the period that witnessed the development of four important events that added more uncertainty to the global economic scene. El-Said pointed out that the plan targets an economic growth rate of 5.5% and estimated investments exceed EGP one trillion, to record about EGP 1.4 trillion, compared to expected investments for the year 21/2022 amounting to EGP 1.2 trillion, with a growth rate of about 16.7%.
El-Said added that it is estimated that the gross domestic product in the year of the plan will reach about EGP 9.22 trillion at current prices.
On the basic data of the plan, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development clarified that the intellectual framework of the plan is based on a set of basic data that govern development trends and priorities, and affect rates of economic and social performance.
The basic data of the plan, according to the report of the Ministry of Planning, was also that the protection of natural resources and the rationalization of their use are necessary conditions to provide the elements of sustainability for the economic renaissance.
Concerning the main pillars of the plan, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that the plan is based on a set of pillars.
The most important of these is the full and scrupulous commitment to implementing the political leadership’s mandates and initiatives to provide a decent for the Egyptian citizen, and align with the objectives of the national agenda to achieve sustainable development within the framework of “Egypt Vision 2030.”
