H.E.Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that it is important at present to take decisive measures to achieve the seventh goal of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) on clean energy, as the current crisis has already revealed weaknesses in the energy sector at the level of countries in the world.
This came during Dr. Hala El-Said 's participation today in a high-level luncheon on accelerating the actions of the seventh goal of the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement: global access to energy and fair, inclusive, and equitable energy.
Dr. Hala El-Said explained that Egypt is the most populous country in the Middle East, and has a rapid growth in population with a developed economy, both of which lead to an increase in energy demand.
El-Said stressed that the Egyptian government pays great attention to maintaining a stable and continuous flow of energy requirements amid growing signs of uncertainty over energy prices.
The Minister of Planning and Economic Development pointed out that renewable energy is an integral part of sustainable economic growth, explaining that Egypt's Vision 2030 aims to achieve a diversified, competitive, and balanced economy with clean and renewable energy.
El-Said added that the Egyptian state aims to reach the share of renewable energy in the energy mix in Egypt to 42% by 2035.
Dr. Hala El-Said pointed out that the seventh goal of the sustainable development goals is a prerequisite for advancing the global climate and sustainable development goals.
