The Minister of Planning and Economic Development meets with representatives of the UNDP to discuss ways of cooperation

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development met; With Usha Rao Munari, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, and Dr. Khaleda Bouzar, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Office for the Arab States of the United Nations Development Programme.
This is to discuss ways of cooperation. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development.
This came on the sidelines of Dr. Hala El-Said 's representation of Egypt at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2022 held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, under the theme "Building back better after the Covid-19 pandemic, while promoting the full implementation of the 2030 sustainable development plan."
During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said confirmed that although the years 2021 and 2022 were a turning point for the countries of the world, they were also two years marked by active cooperation between Egypt and the United Nations Development Program.
El-Said pointed to the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development's appreciation of the comprehensive mission of the UNDP and its strong partnership with the Egyptian government, in its long-term efforts to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development goals.
El-Said said that Egypt believes that we can accomplish this pivotal contract of work only by benefiting from partnerships and working together successfully.
El-Said explained the Ministry of Planning's aspiration to work with the United Nations Development Program to support Egypt's basic development priorities, including achieving the 2030 Agenda and implementing sustainable development goals, climate action, environmental protection, inclusive growth, and digital transformation.
El-Said explained that the United Nations Development Program, as a central agency in the United Nations system, plays a key role in supporting Egypt in defining development priorities, while achieving a development impact on the ground.
During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said referred to the Human Development Report in Egypt, explaining that Egypt launched its twelfth Human Development Report, which it has been issuing since 1994, after a 10-year hiatus, explaining that the report covers a crucial decade (2011-2020) in Egypt's modern history.
on the Integrated National Financing Framework; Dr. Hala El-Said referred to the participation of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in chairing the joint program committee entitled "Strategy for Financing the Sustainable Development Goals for Egypt", which is funded by the United Nations Joint Fund for Sustainable Development Goals.
El-Said added that the ministry, within the framework of this project, pays special attention to studying the costs of sustainable development goals in Egypt in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program.
El-Said explained that it is intended to determine the costs of national development plans and the associated sustainable development goals within a framework that is responsive to gender and the environment.
The Minister of Planning and Economic Development confirmed that Egypt has made great strides in development in many vital sectors over the past eight years, which will be highlighted on the website of the Economic Development Program of the United Nations Development Program "Egyptian Development Gateway."
During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said also indicated Egypt's full readiness to host the COP 27 climate summit next November in Sharm El-Sheikh, explaining that the summit is an opportunity to demonstrate the commitment of world leaders and all stakeholders to take action on climate change.
