H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, representing Egypt, participated on Thursday in the "Messages from the Regions" session, which was held within the activities of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2022 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Forum is being held under the theme of “Building Back Better after the COVID-19 Pandemic” while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
During the session, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed the Egyptian experience in facing the repercussions of Covid-19, noting that the conditions the world is witnessing with the pandemic, in addition to the current international scene of uncertainty and turmoil in economic activities; has profound effects on countries.El-Said explained the importance of such discussions to further enhance regional and international cooperation on benefiting from the knowledge and exchanging best practices to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development to build resilient societies after COVID-19, especially in the countries of the South.El-Said affirmed Egypt's keenness to share its successful experience with the countries of the world concerning achieving sustainable development goals, explaining that the Egyptian state is working hard to evaluate how to implement Vision 2030 and speed up its realization. El-Said pointed out that Egypt's Vision 2030 is currently being updated to better prepare and respond to any challenges or changes.The Minister of Planning and Economic Development indicated that Egypt launched the second phase of the "Decent Life" initiative, which is the largest development project aimed at creating sustainable rural communities with the participation of all stakeholders.




El-Said pointed out that the initiative aims to improve the standard of living in the poorest rural villages in Egypt by reducing poverty and unemployment rates and improving the general quality of life for citizens.Dr. Hala El-Said added that the "Decent Life" initiative aims to reach all rural areas over three years, representing 58% of the Egyptian population.
