Egypt renews new term for Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif as NIGSD executive director

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly issued a decision renewing the appointment of Dr. Sherifa Sherif, as Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD)for one year.
The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development is the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, entrusted with providing training, research, and consultancy in governance and sustainable development under the slogan "Governance for Sustainable Development".
The institute adopts a new approach to development and service provision, to become a regional knowledge center and have an effective role in implementing national strategies, the most important of which is the “Sustainable Development: Egypt Vision 2030” strategy.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif obtained a master’s degree in public administration from the American University in Cairo, and a doctorate from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, and she is a professor of public administration at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.
She held the position of Vice Dean for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, Head of the Department of Public Administration at the Future University in Egypt, and an assistant professor at several universities.
She also held the position of Head of the Public Administration Research and Consultation Center at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.
In 2017, she was appointed as a member of the Egyptian National Committee of the African Peer Review Mechanism, as well as the position of Egyptian National Coordinator for the Public Governance Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
In 2021, she was appointed to the Committee of Experts on Public Administration at the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
Dr. Sharifa Sherif has been working for more than 20 years in the areas of public administration, corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, environmental management, and governance.
The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development aims to facilitate procedures, develop rules governing dealing with state institutions and its various agencies, and coordinate between relevant stakeholders, whether at the central or local level.
