The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by Sherif Daoud, Vice President of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry, participated in the activities of the fourth forum for strategies for transformation towards a green economy under the title "From Vision to Action", which was organized by CSR Egypt.
The forum was attended by Nevin Al-Kabbah, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Abdullah Al-Batish, Assistant Minister for Youth Policies and Development, and representatives from the Ministries of Local Development and Environment.
Sherif Daoud, Deputy Head of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, stressed that the government has a governing framework for the development process as it is followed worldwide, represented in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Africa Agenda 2063.
Daoud stressed that the ministry is constantly working to update Egypt's Vision 2030, due to the successive changes on the scene, represented by the challenges of climate change and population increase.
Daoud pointed out that the beginning of economic reform focused on the financial and monetary aspects, but at the moment the focus is on the sustainable economy.
Daoud referred to the preparation of environmental sustainability standards, as according to these standards, the government started 15% of green projects in line with environmental sustainability standards.
Daoud added that the plan aims to reach 50% during the year 2024/2025, pointing out that there is a permanent dialogue between the government and the private sector to know the sectors that the private sector is interested in.
