NIGSD presents Egypt's experience in empowering youth during the OECD Conference

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, participated in the OECD Conference on Youth Empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa, which was held in Italy from 23-25 June.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD pointed out that the Institute presented Egypt’s success stories and good practices at the international level concerning youth empowerment and their effective participation in the decision-making process in Egypt and in setting and modifying Egypt’s Vision 2030 during the conference.
On behalf of the Institute, Dr. Dina Talaat, Director of the Career Path Unit, and Mai Hosny, Policy Analyst and Project Coordinator participated in the conference.
Sherif added that Egypt participated for the first time in the OECD's Public Governance Report "Youth at the Heart of Government Work", a review of the Middle East and North Africa.
The report analyzes the current governance arrangements and practices in 10 governments in the Middle East and North Africa in three areas. The first is the implementation of joint and integrated youth policies, and the second is the provision of services to youth through strengthening cooperation and coordination between various government agencies.
The third is building administrative and institutional capacities to popularize the views and opinions of young people in policy-making.
On her part, Dr. During the conference, Dina Talaat pointed out that within the framework of the interest of the Egyptian state and the political leadership in achieving the goals of sustainable development and the Egypt 2030 Agenda, which are achieved through integration, cooperation, and participation among all individuals, and institutions of society.
Therefore, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in cooperation with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, worked to spread and strengthen the culture of sustainability in society, so it launched the “Be an Ambassador” program for sustainable development ambassadors.
The "Be an Ambassador" program aims to disseminate and localize the sustainable development goals in all sectors. The program aims to build young national capacities in sustainable development.
Mai Hosny reviewed the Youth Policy Makers Youth Empowerment Program, a national training program for youth.
The "Youth Policy Makers" program is implemented within the framework of cooperation with the OECD and includes the participation of young women and men with disabilities in a concrete way to train and qualify them to be able to start entrepreneurship activities and start-ups to achieve sustainable development goals.
