The Minister of Planning and Economic Development issues a decision to establish a human rights unit in the ministry

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, issued a decision to establish a human rights unit in the ministry affiliated with the General Department of International Relations and Agreements, with Dr. Muhammad Alaa, Deputy Director of the General Department of International Relations and Agreements in the ministry assuming the responsibility.
Dr. Hala El-Said explained that the newly created unit is specialized in monitoring, studying, and addressing problems related to human rights, and receiving complaints submitted in this regard.
Moreover, the unit will contribute also to spreading the culture of human rights through various means of raising awareness and developing the legal awareness of the employees of the Ministry and guiding them to their constitutionally and legally guaranteed rights, in addition to issuing periodic reports on the activities of the Ministry and its subsidiaries in the light of human rights.
El-Said added that among the unit's specialties is also working as a point of contact between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the technical secretariat of the Permanent Higher Committee for Human Rights concerning implementing the objectives of the national strategy for human rights and providing it with the necessary data, statistics, and reports, in addition to setting guidelines for the work of human rights units in the ministry and its affiliated entities.
El-Said stressed that the establishment of this newly created unit comes within the framework of the belief and keenness of the Ministry of Planning, as one of the Egyptian government institutions, to ensure transparency, guarantee the rights of workers and citizens, and improve their standard of living.
