10 June 2022
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the Administrative Prosecution Authority announced the launch of the first elections to take place through the electronic voting program, with the elections for the Board of Directors of the Authority's Club.
Engineer Ashraf Abdel Hafeez, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Digital Transformation Affairs, explained that the program comes within the framework of fruitful and constructive cooperation between the ministry and the authority, which aims to develop the information infrastructure and services provided by the authority.
Abdel Hafeez added that it was agreed to use modern electronic technologies that help in automating the work cycle of the electoral system within the Arab Republic of Egypt, praising the performance of the Ministry of Planning’s team and its role in establishing and developing the electronic system for the electoral process.
Abdel Hafeez explained that the Ministry of Planning, on its part, provided the Administrative Prosecution Authority with the equipment, devices, and networks necessary to operate the system and put it into practice, adding that the system can be applied in electoral processes.
It is noteworthy that the voting process takes place using computers equipped with touch screens to select candidates instead of using traditional paper ballots.
The system relies on a special electronic coding technology in the process of counting and calculating the votes in a way that ensures the integrity of the procedures and the accuracy of the results.
