On the sidelines of the annual meetings of the IsDB:Egypt's Minister of Planning meets with the Indonesian Finance Minister to discuss preparations for Cop27

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, met recently with Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), in its 47th session, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt during the period from the first to the fourth of June at the International Conference Center in Cairo Sharm El-Shaikh.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in light of Egypt's hosting of COP27, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as well as Indonesia's presidency of the G20 summit.
Moreover, both parties discussed ways of cooperation in facing the challenges and geopolitical changes facing the countries of the world.
For her part, Dr. Hala El-Said stressed that Egypt's hosting of the COP 27 climate conference comes within the framework of working to accelerate the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement while raising the needs of developing countries, especially the countries of the African continent and the Middle East and North Africa, stressing the importance of building on the results of the conference. She further referred to the launch of the National Climate Change Strategy last May, in the presence of the Prime Minister, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to the negative repercussions of climate change, provide financing, build capacity and transfer technology.
El-Said highlighted the national project for the development of the Egyptian family, which is based on controlling population growth and improving the characteristics of the population within the framework of the state’s efforts to improve the quality of life for citizens.
She also stressed that the careful follow-up of the project’s executive programs is one of the main directions of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 22/2023.
For her part, the Indonesian Finance Minister said that Indonesia's presidency of G20 provides her country with a great opportunity to promote the transition to a green economy.
She also explained that Indonesia has integrated the transition to a green economy into labor policies and preparing people to transition to green jobs.
The Indonesian Minister of Finance pointed out that work is underway to develop the investment map in cooperation with all relevant authorities, issue green Sukuk, and implement pilot projects and frameworks for reducing emissions.
