Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, met with the Chargé d'Affairs of Sweden's Ambassador in Cairo, Minister Plenipotentiary Mr. Jörgen Persson, to discuss aspects of future bilateral cooperation between the two parties, especially in the field of sustainable development.The meeting was attended by Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources Department, and Amani El Deeb, Director of International Cooperation.During the meeting, Dr. Sherifa Sherif referred to the historical development and role of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development.
 Sherif noted the institute's cooperation with the most prestigious educational and training institutions at the regional and international levels to provide the best training services, capacity building, education, research, and consultancy, especially in the areas of governance and sustainable development.Sherif highlighted the "She is for a Digital Future" initiative implemented by the National Institute of Governance in cooperation with Cisco International and UNDP.
The initiative aims to bridge the digital gender gap by enhancing the role of Egyptian women in digital transformation and digital literacy by training female candidates from Egyptian universities and the government sector without discrimination. Sherif explained that the program began with the training of 2,000 women, and it is targeted to reach 8,000 women by 2022.Sherif spoke about the African Network of Management and Training Institutes "Tanmia", which aims to spread the principles of good governance and contribute to achieving the aspirations of Africa's Agenda 2063.
Sherif added that the institute launched the ATINGI education platform specifically for African countries intending to improve vocational training through e-learning.
