The Minister of Planning and Economic Development reviews the most important objectives of the investment plan

Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said discussed the main objectives of the plan for the fiscal year 2022/2023, during her review of the main features of the plan at the meeting of the Planning and Budget Committee in the House of Representatives.
El-Said touched on reviewing the targets of the indicators of the Egyptian economy in light of the developments of the successive global crises, noting that the economic growth rate that was targeted before the crisis was 6.4%, compared to the target after the crisis, which is estimated at 5.5%.On the main objectives of the plan for the fiscal year 2022/2023, El-Said explained that the plan aims to achieve a growth rate of 5.5% and a 10% rate of inflation.
She referred to the estimates of the gross domestic product at current prices in the fiscal year 2023/22, which is estimated to reach EGP 9.2 trillion, an increase of 16% over the year 2021/22.
On the development of the investment rate and the estimation of the targeted total investments, El-Said explained that the investment rate in the next fiscal year 2022/2023 plan is estimated at 15.2%, noting that the proportion of public investments has risen to form 78% of the total investment, reaching EGP 1.1 trillion, in addition to EGP 300 billion pounds in private sector investments. The investments of the government apparatus represent one-third of the public investments in the year of the plan.
El-Said also reviewed the most important objectives of the investment plan for the fiscal year 2023/22 within the framework of achieving the sustainable development goals, noting that within the framework of the third goal of the sustainable development goals concerned with health, the plan aims to enter hospitals into service by establishing and developing 36 hospitals, as well as providing 1,500 beds of Intensive care beds, and 1000 ambulances, “a decent life”, in addition to a comprehensive development of 52 integration hospitals within the family health and development centers.
Concerning the goal of quality education, El-Said explained that the plan aims to reduce the density of classes by establishing 25,000 classes, improving the competitiveness of pre-university education outputs through 10 Japanese schools and 20 applied technology schools, in addition to mechanized tests in universities by automating 154 test centers at the level of all universities.
El-Said continued, referring to the plan's objectives for the sixth, eleventh and thirteenth goals related to clean water and pellet hygiene, sustainable cities and local communities, and climate action from the sustainable development goals.
El-Said explained that the plan targets sewage treatment plants with 174 treatment plants, including 34 triple treatment plants, and seawater desalination plants through 27 desalination plants, rehabilitating and lining canals with the rehabilitation of 5759 km, in addition to 10 transverse oysters on the Nile in connection with the eleventh goal.
