Egypt’s NIGSD holds a webinar entitled “Gender Responsive Governance” in cooperation with EAPD

The “Tanmia” network of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in cooperation with the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development (EAPD) - the development arm of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented a webinar entitled “Gender Responsive Governance” via the Zoom application.
This is in light of the activities of the third edition of the African Women Leaders Training Program.Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, indicated that the webinar targeted graduates of the African Women Leaders Program for the past three years and alumni of the Development Network, as well as from outside.A group of people of determination also participated in the webinar, and the number of participants reached 100 participants from government employees, academics, governors, and members of parliament in various African countries and Egypt.
Sherif explained that the main points that were touched upon are the understanding of gender and gender equality, gender mainstreaming in governance, gender, and organizations.
Sherif added that the webinar witnessed the participation of female trainees from Egypt and 19 African countries: Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, Morocco, Zambia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Algeria, Burundi, Congo, Rwanda, Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau, Uganda, Iraq.
The webinar discussed several topics including what is gender? what is gender-responsive governance, and how does gender influence socialization on aspects of daily life such as self-concept - occupational or educational goals, health or social relations, and the importance of gender and development.
