FY 2022/2023 Sustainable Development Plan allocates EGP 307 billion for the Transport Sector: Planning Minister

Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the plan for the fiscal year 22/2023 includes total investments of about EGP 294 billion for the housing and water and sanitation services sectors.
The plan seeks to add many initiatives and projects, including EGP 33 billion for the sake of disbursement and the construction, and we are 26 billion pounds for the projects the water, with a rate of 23%.
This came during her delivery of the statement of the draft sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 22/2023 and the basic features of the plan document before the House of Representatives today, in the presence of the Advisor, Dr. Hanafi Jabali, Speaker of Parliament, and distinguished members of Parliament.
El-Said added that the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities has allocated about EGP 168 billion, of which EGP 64.9 billion to the government body, and EGP 103 billion to the social institutions.
In the field of transportation, Dr. Hala Al -Saeed indicated that the total investments are estimated at EGP 307 billion in the year of the plan, and it concerns the conservative bodies.
These investments give priority to the completion of projects that are nearing completion and national projects that have an economic impact on the business climate, as well as projects that have a positive impact on the business environment.
In the field of roads, bridges, and land transport, El-Said explained that the investments directed to these activities have contributed to Egypt's rise in the global classification from the 118 ranks to the 28th.
El-Said indicated that in the current plan, about EGP 24 billion will be allocated to the projects of the government apparatus of the Ministry of Transport, with a growth rate of 4%, to complete several strategic road projects.
Among the targeted investments of economic bodies, amounting to about EGP 218 billion in the 2023/22 plan, are investments amounting to EGP 176 billion for the National Authority for Tunnels including the two rapid electric train projects, next to the monorail lines in the new administrative capital and the city of 6 October, and the completion of the implementation of the third line.
In the field of river transport, El-Said said that the plan includes projects to develop river units along the waterway (from Cairo in the north to Aswan and Wadi Halfa in the south) and raise the efficiency of the river port in Sudan.
Among the targeted investments of economic bodies, amounting to about EGP 218 billion in the 2023/22 plan, are investments amounting to EGP 176 billion for the National Authority for Tunnels including the two rapid electric train projects, next to the monorail lines in the New Administrative Capital and the city of 6 October, and the completion of the implementation of the third line.
El-Said referred to the transportation with iron rails, where it is concerned with the national body of the restriction of Egypt, 27 billion pounds, and in the field of the dry ports, the target is the deeds of the work of developing and many of the ports from the sixth of the ports to establish 13 dry ports and logistics centers at the level of the Republic.
