During her participation in the Arab Spring 2022 meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group: NIGSD's Executive Director presents Egypt's experience in the field of governance & digital transformation

Main / Media / News / During her participation in the Arab Spring 2022 meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group: NIGSD's Executive Director presents Egypt's experience in the field of governance & digital transformation

23 April 2022

Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, participated in the side event held on governance and digital transformation, on the sidelines of the Arab Spring 2022 meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

The meetings will be held virtually from 18 to 24 April to discuss issues of global concern, including global economic prospects, poverty eradication, economic development, aid effectiveness, governance, and digital transformation.

During her participation in the side event, Dr. Sherifa reviewed Egypt's experience in the field of governance and digital transformation, stressing that the Covid-19 pandemic posed enormous challenges, accelerating the pace of mechanization of government services, expanding the umbrella of digital transformation, and creating more solutions and applications to facilitate citizens.
Sharif referred to the “Sharek” application launched by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to activate community participation in the projects being implemented, and she also launched an observatory of government measures to confront the emerging coronavirus, as the observatory works to inform the citizen of all the steps taken by the state to eliminate Corona.
Sharif highlighted the "She is for a Digital Future" initiative implemented by the National Institute of Governance in cooperation with Cisco International and UNDP.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital gender gap by enhancing the role of Egyptian women in digital transformation and digital literacy by training female candidates from Egyptian universities and the government sector without discrimination.

Sharif explained that the program began with the training of 2,000 women, and it is targeted to reach 8,000 women in 2022.
Sharif spoke about the African Network of Management and Training Institutes "Tanmia", which aims to spread the principles of good governance and contribute to achieving the aspirations of Africa's Agenda 2063.

The network has succeeded in cooperating with many African countries, where it implemented training virtually due to the spread of the Corona pandemic, and it has planned and comprehensively designed all programs, training courses, and webinars.
Sharif added that the institute launched the ATINGI education platform specifically for African countries intending to improve vocational training through e-learning.

NIGSD is the exclusive partner of the platform, within the framework of activating the African initiative "Smart Africa".

Sharif indicated that the institute launched a “sustainability” platform for digital education, through which it provides more than 50 programs in various fields in governance and sustainable development through interactive training in development and capacity building.
