EGYPT'S PLANNING MINISTRY RELEASES 'CITIZEN INVESTMENT PLAN' OF DAMIETTA IN FY 2021/22

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a report on the Citizen’s Investment Plan for Damietta Governorate for the year 21/2022, as part of continuing to announce the citizen’s plan in all governorates of the Republic for the third year in a row.
The regular announcement of the Citizen Investment Plan aims to educate citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year (21/2022). And its role in achieving the "Egypt Vision 2030".
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, explained that the Citizen’s Investment Plan adopts the methodology of programs and performance, and evidence-based planning, as it provides detailed information on the most important development indicators at the level of each governorate, and its share of public investments in the plan for the fiscal year (21/2022).
The plan also provides information on the investments directed within the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside "Decent life", the distribution of these investments among the various sectors, and the most prominent performance indicators that monitor the current state of development in each sector and the most important projects targeted for implementation.El-Said added that the "citizen's plan" serves as an important database that helps citizens follow up on projects being implemented in their geographical scope (governor, center, village), to ensure the quality of their implementation following the best specifications and relevant standards, which contributes to activating community follow-up.
On the citizen’s investment plan in Damietta Governorate, El-Said indicated that the number of development projects in the governorate amounts to 208 and that the value of public investments directed to Damietta Governorate in the plan for the year 21/2022 amounted to EGP 6.5 billion, an increase of 57.9% over the plan for the year 20/2021.
Regarding the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments in Damietta Governorate, with the plan for the year 21/2022, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that investments worth EGP 3.8 billion were directed to the transport sector, at a rate of 58.2%.
Followed by the housing sector and slum development, with a value of EGP 631.2 million, or 9.7%, and the health sector investments amounting to EGP 478.5 million, or 7.4%.
The higher education and scientific research sector have a budget of EGP 445 million or 6.9%, and the local development sector EGP 416.4 million, or 6.4%, while the other sectors are allocated to investments worth EGP 735.2 million, or 11.4 percent.The report indicated that the most important development goals in the housing sector in Damietta Governorate in the 21/2022 plan are to direct about EGP 353 million for drinking water and sanitation services, and EGP 13.4 million to support the governorate’s electricity networks. The number of housing sector projects is 50 projects.
The number of local development sector projects in the governorate is 75. The most important development goals in this sector are paving local roads with about EGP 143.4 million, and directing EGP 24 million to strengthen the electricity networks in the governorate.The most important projects in the health sector are the completion of the construction of Faraskour Central Hospital, Damietta General Hospital, and the comprehensive development of day surgery clinics in Ras El Bar.
