EGYPT’S PLANNING MINISTRY RELEASES ‘CITIZEN INVESTMENT PLAN’ FOR QENA IN FY 21/2022

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced in a report issued by it the features of the Citizen's Investment Plan for Qena Governorate for the year 21/2022.
The announcement came within the framework of continuing to announce the citizen’s plan in all governorates of the Republic for the third year in a row.Moreover, the announcement aims to educate citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year (21/2022), and its role in achieving “Egypt Vision 2030.”
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 21/2022 attaches great importance to the development of Upper Egypt governorates.She further indicated that the plan intends to bring about real, tangible, and rapid development, which is reflected in improving the quality of life and providing decent living opportunities.Regarding the Citizen’s Investment Plan in Qena Governorate, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the governorate amounts to 278 projects and that the value of public investments directed to the Qena Governorate, under the plan for the year 21/2022, is EGP 4.8 billion.
Concerning the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments in Qena Governorate, with a plan for the year 21/2022, El-Said indicated that investments worth EGP 1.7 billion were directed to the local development sector, at a rate of 35.4 percent.
They also highlighted that EGP one billion has been allocated to the housing sector and slum development, at a rate of 20.8 percent, while in the education sector, investments allocated amount to Higher Education and Scientific Research is EGP 748.5 million. The transport sector is related to EGP 503 million, or 10.5%, and the pre-university education sector, EGP 217 million, or 4.5 percent. As for the other sectors, investments worth EGP 631.5 million, or 13.2%, belong to the other sectors.
The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that the most important development goals in the housing sector and slum development in Qena Governorate in the 21/2022 plan are to direct about EGP 495 million for drinking water and sanitation services.The number of development projects in this sector is 62, including projects for the informal areas development fund, and projects of the National Social Housing Program.
The most important projects of the local development sector in the governorate are represented in the plan for the year 21/2022, which number 119 projects, the most important of which are the completion of projects of economic blocs, the completion of sewage projects in several regions.In the field of university education and scientific research, the most important 20 development projects in the governorate, according to the report, are the establishment of the South Valley National University, the completion of the laboratories building of the Faculty of Engineering at South Valley University, and the establishment of the university’s electronic test laboratories building.It is worth noting that the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development makes the “Citizen’s Plan” for the years “19/2020” and “20/2021” available on its website, as part of its keenness to increase societal awareness and inform citizens of the directions of sustainable development plans adopted by the state in each governorate separately.
