The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, provided a set of training programs for faculty members at Mansoura University for two consecutive days, in cooperation with the University Performance Development Center (UDC) at the university.

The training programs came within the framework of providing FLDP faculty development programs implemented by the Institute.

Dr. Sharifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), stressed that the main goal of any development process is to improve the standard of living of people and meet their basic needs.

Sherif indicated that the training program offered to faculty members at Mansoura University included several topics and themes represented in sustainable development, its concept and objectives, and the integration between the dimensions and priorities of sustainable development.
The training program also included the development of environmental thought in the modern era, the principles on which to determine the future directions of Egypt until 2050, and the green economy.
Sherif added that the training program included a discussion of the main methodologies for achieving sustainable development in Egypt, where the national economy depends on several elements represented in knowledge and human development, natural resource development, resource renewal, production factors, investment, and transfer and localization of technology.

The training program included a review of sustainable development priorities, the foundations for defining sustainable development goals and objectives, and the requirements for achieving future directions.

The program was co-presented by Dr. Hussein Abaza, Senior Advisor to the Ministries of Planning and Environment in the field of sustainable development and green economy, and Dr. Heba El-Baz, assistant professor of economics at the Institute of National Planning (INP); Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at NIGSD.
