H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, mourned the death of Dr. Mrs. Mervat Sultan, Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Bank for Exports, who passed away on Thursday.

"Today we have lost a great national banking value, who has always played a successful role in the world of business and finance," El-Said said.

El-Said extended her sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, praying to God to bless her with His mercy, and to inspire her family's patience and solace.
Mrs. Mervat Sultan is among the women who have reached the highest banking positions, as she has more than 35 years of banking experience.
In 2016, Mrs. Mervat Sultan assumed the presidency of the Board of Directors of the Export Development Bank of Egypt.
During this period, Mrs. Mervat Sultan succeeded in reaching many achievements and transferring the bank to the ranks of distinguished banks.
In 2021, Forbes Magazine chose her among the list of the most powerful businesswomen in the Middle East, because of her conscious thought and extensive banking experience.

Moreover, she was also named one of the 50 Most Influential Women in the Financial Sector in the Middle East and Africa for the year 2019 by Financial News.
