Dr. Hala El-Said , Minister of Planning and Economic Development, received representatives of public universities and students participating in the "Youth for Development Initiative".


The reception came on the sidelines of the first preparatory meeting for the initiative, which was held by the ministry, to learn about the participants and students’ benefit from the initiative and to discuss ways to enhance opportunities to benefit from the research submitted by students, whether in the development project competition or policy papers.


Dr. Hala El-Said  stressed the Egyptian government's keenness to develop the creative and innovative capabilities of young people at the level of the governorates of the Republic, within the framework of the governance of settling the sustainable development goals and benefiting from the proposals and ideas of young people.

El-Said  pointed out that the "Youth for Development" initiative is a youth initiative launched by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (the Supreme Council of Universities).


The first preparatory meeting for the initiative came in the presence of Eng. Khaled Mustafa, Permanent Representative of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Nada Masoud, Economic Adviser to the Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Head of the Macroeconomic Policies Unit, and Dr. Muhammad Alaa, Coordinator of the Initiative, Human Rights Unit Officer and Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry.


The meeting was also attended by Dr. Dalia Khalil, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities and Coordinator of the Initiative, and First Secretary Sherif Daoud, Vice President of the Sustainable Development Unit.


During the preparatory meeting, Eng. Khaled Mostafa presented the role of the Egypt Award for Governmental Excellence in supporting excellence and institutional development for Egyptian universities, explaining that the Government Excellence Award aims to create a generation of responsible young people who can achieve excellence and creativity in various fields.



For her part, Dr. Nada Masoud reviewed the National Structural Reform Program, explaining that the second phase of reforms targets the real sector for the first time through the implementation of a radical and targeted structural reform package at the level of five main systems, including the demographic system, family and community development, the financing system, the logistics system, the logistics system. Government performance, and the legislative system.


Dr. Heba Zaki gave a presentation on the business incubator of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, and a presentation of the success stories that emerged from it, explaining that the incubator provides many services to support youth and women; Including the incubation program, which aims to support young people in continuity in the markets, in addition to the awareness program and the consulting program, which provides technical support for emerging projects.


For his part, Mr. Sherif Daoud reviewed the axes of Egypt's Vision 2030 and development projects that contribute to achieving sustainable human development. He stressed the importance of localizing sustainable development goals at the level of all governorates of the Republic; Where 27 reports are issued that include comparing and evaluating the performance of each governorate of the Republic with the national and international sustainable development goals.
