The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development launched the fifth issue of the follow-up report on program budgets and performance at the sectoral level, which covers the period from (18/2019) to (20/2021), and reviews all development programs in various sectors, and links them to sustainable development goals.

The fifth issue of the report reviews the basic features of all the programs implemented by the Ministry of Health and Population and its affiliated entities, the detailed data of the financial appropriations directed to the implementation of the programs, the most important performance indicators at the level of the final outputs, as well as the strategic and developmental impact of each program separately, and the progress made in achieving the sustainable development goals. related to.


H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the projects that were fully completed during the past three years in the health and population sector amounted to 289 projects, at a total cost estimated at EGP 9.6 billion.The report indicated that Aswan topped the rest of the governorates in terms of the number of implemented projects, with about 59 projects at a cost of more than one billion pounds, followed by Luxor with 47 projects for EGP 1.7 billion, then Port Said with 36 projects, Ismailia 33 projects, Minya 17 projects, and Suez 11 projects.




The report pointed out that Upper Egypt governorates accounted for 50% of the total number of implemented projects, and about 42% of the total cost of completed projects.
As part of the state’s efforts to implement the comprehensive health insurance system, 310 units and centers to provide primary health care have been completed and developed in the governorates of the first phase (Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan), 52 hospitals to provide health services, and 176 health facilities. It has been developed 206 medical facilities according to quality standards in the governorates of the Canal Cities Region.
Concerning the development of health facilities, the report indicated that the establishment and development of 143 ambulance units have been completed, and about 6,000 beds have been added in government hospitals and hospitals affiliated with the General Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers in all governorates of the Republic.

The report indicated the implementation of 7 presidential initiatives within the "100 Million Seha" campaign to provide comprehensive health care, which, during the past three years, resulted in 2 million children benefiting from the early detection initiative and treatment of hearing impairment and loss in newborns, in addition to 50 million citizens benefiting from the Hepatitis C eradication initiative.In addition, 1.2 million infected citizens were treated, 15 treatment centers were established, and about 25 million students in the primary stage were examined within the initiative to detect diseases (anemia, obesity, stunting).
 About 19 million women benefited from the initiative to support women's health, and the treatment of all cases of the first stage, as part of the initiative of the President of the Republic to eliminate waiting lists and perform about 885,000 various surgeries.The report added that 1.1 million pregnant women were examined, as part of the initiative to support maternal and fetal health, 14.3 million citizens benefited from the treatment system at the state's expense, and 6 centers for the collection and manufacture of plasma derivatives were completed.


The report indicated that health sector programs contributed to accelerating the achievement of the relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 3: Ensure a healthy life and promote well-being for all at all ages).
 The report indicated that Egypt advanced about 9 points in the “tracking universal health coverage” indicator, to reach 74 points in (2020) compared to 65.2 points in (2019), according to the annual report of the Sustainable Development Index issued by the British University of Cambridge in cooperation with the Network "Sustainable Development Solutions (SDSN)".
