On the behalf of H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development who is acting as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Demographic Center in Cairo, Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister inaugurated the activities of the first scientific conference for supporting policies to improve the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen.
 The Ministry is holding the conference represented by the Demographic Center in cooperation with the Egypt Foundation for Health and Sustainable Development.
The conference was launched under the auspices of Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, under the title "Quality of Life".The conference witnessed the presence of Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt's Grand Mufti, Dr. Amira Tawadros, Director of the Demographic Center in Cairo, Dr. Jihan Saleh, Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Margaret Sancho, Deputy Director of the US Agency for International Development, Dr. Mohamed Kamal, director of Plan International Egypt and Dr. Amr Hassan is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Cairo University.The conference also witnessed some sessions that discussed the main five themes.
 Engineer Ashraf Abdel Hafeez, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Digital Transformation, chaired the second session, which discussed digital transformation and the use of modern technological systems and artificial intelligence in supporting decision-making regarding all population files and analyzing the digital divide for the Egyptian population.On the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development said that the conference witnessed the researchers' presentation of some research papers on the relationship of population control rates with what is related to society, culture and economy, as well as all aspects of life.
 Kamali stressed the need to take into account the successful international experiences in this regard and benefit from it and work to implement it in Egypt.On the goals of the conference, Kamali explained that they include understanding the concepts of quality of life and the well-being of individuals and societies, as well as moving from a narrow understanding of development with its traditional physical indicators to a concept related to the decent living of citizens and quality of life, as well as how to build a new economic model for development that achieves the quality of life.
Kamali talked about the objectives of the conference, which also included expanding the concept of the population issue so that it is not limited to the issue of reproductive health and family planning.
For her part, Dr. Amira Tawadros explained that the conference focused on five axes, including women's economic empowerment and the service axis of reproductive health and health services.
It is noteworthy that the conference came within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030, which comes at the top of its priorities to improve the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen, and is in line with the national project for the development of the Egyptian family under the auspices of the President of the Republic, which seeks to improve demographic characteristics and control population growth.

Moreover, the conference came to shed light on one of the most important areas of research and policies that is growing rapidly and in interest in the world today, which is the field of policies that support the improvement of the quality of life of citizens and the improvement of demographic characteristics in the Republic of Egypt.
