Within the activities of the introductory day of the World Government Summit in Dubai 2022 : Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development participates in a session on the role of women in promoting economic growth

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, participated in a session entitled "What is the role of women in promoting economic growth around the world?" , the session came as part of the Women in Government Forum, which is being held today as part of the activities of the preliminary day for the World Government Summit (WGS)in the United Arab Emirates 2022.
During her speech, El-Said said that empowering women is one of the national priorities of the Egyptian state,l.
She further noted that it is necessary to deepen the institutional situation to empower women economically.
In this regard, El-Said refereed to the launch of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030, in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals (UN SDGs).
El-Said stressed that bridging the qualitative gap between Gender is important to any strategy.
El-Said highlighted that the level of political empowerment, noting that the percentage of women’s representation in the Cabinet reached 24.2%, and about 27% in the Egyptian Parliament, after it was 2% in 2012.
Moreover, El-Said asserted that the presence of women in the Egyptian judiciary system as some of them are occupying positions such as judges.
El-Said referred to the programs offered by the Egyptian state to invest in women, referring to the training programs offered to women leaders and decision-makers, as well as the programs offered to marginalized women.
El-Said highlighted state-sponsored entrepreneurship programs and it’s assistance in starting their small businesses as one of the ways to eradicate poverty.
El-Said also highlighted the state’s efforts in the context of women’s economic empowerment, noting that the Financial Supervisory Authority issued a decision stipulating that at least one female component must be represented on the boards of directors of companies and bodies working in the field of non-banking public activities.
El-Said concluded her speech by saying, "My father taught me that no matter what position you have reached, you must always strive for excellence."
