The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development participates in a workshop on integrated national financing tools

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by the Sustainable Development Unit headed by Dr. Mona Essam, Head of the Unit, participated in a workshop organized by the Financing for Development Office of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) at the Committee's headquarters in Beirut.

The workshop comes within the framework of the permanent and fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in many development areas and the support provided by the organization in making policies that serve the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the Arab Republic of Egypt was chosen as a leading country to implement this experiment, as the workshop aimed to provide technical support to the Egyptian government represented by the Ministry in the field of financing for development, especially in light of Egypt’s fruitful national efforts in achieving the goals of the vision Egypt 2030.


During the workshop, the Sustainable Development Unit team was briefed on the components of the Arab Financing for Development Gateway and the interactive mechanisms and tools that it contains.

 The portal serves as a platform that provides in-depth analysis and systematic responses to enhance public financial management, mobilize domestic public resources, and take advantage of additional private investments to reach a set of innovative solutions to put Arab economies on a sustainable path towards financing the 2030 Agenda.


 The portal also provides technical support to policymakers by having a set of dynamic and interactive tools to help design integrated financing strategies, support the transition to financing focused on sustainable development goals.

Dr. Mona Essam pointed out that the Arab Funding for Development Portal, which was viewed during the workshop, includes determining the cost of implementing the UN goals, as well as the funding for those goals.
 Dr. Mona Essam clarified that this comes within a framework of interdependence and integration that demonstrates the impact of achieving the international goals on each other, explaining that the portal can be used to maximize the use of available resources to respond to the ambitions stipulated in Egypt's Vision 2030.
