The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announces the Citizen's Investment to North Sinai's FY 21/2022 plan

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in a report issued by it, reviewed the features of the citizen's investment plan for the North Sinai Governorate for the year 21/2022.
This came within the framework of continuing to announce the citizen’s plan in all governorates of the Republic for the third year in a row, to educate citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year (21/2022), and its role in achieving “Egypt Vision 2030.”
Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, confirmed that in the context of achieving balanced regional development, which is one of the pillars on which Egypt's Vision 2030 is based, recent years have witnessed intensified efforts to localize sustainable development goals in the governorates to maximize the comparative advantages of all governorates.
Al-Saeed added that all development plans adopted by the state aim to improve the quality of life for citizens.
Al-Saeed indicated that this will not be achieved without active community participation, in line with the "Egypt Vision 2030."
Al-Saeed pointed out that the Ministry of Planning has taken, during the last period, many steps aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability and emphasizing the importance of citizens’ participation in planning and follow-up, including issuing the report “Follow-up to the citizen in the governorates 18/2019 – 19/2020” and launching the mobile application “Sharek 2030” ".
Regarding the citizen’s investment plan in North Sinai Governorate, Al-Saeed explained that the number of development projects in the governorate amounts to 152 projects and that the value of public investments directed to North Sinai Governorate in the 21/2022 plan amounts to EGP 6.2 billion, an increase of 47% over the 20/2021 plan.
Concerning the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments in North Sinai Governorate in the plan for the year 21/2022, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that investments worth EGP 2 billion were directed to the housing sector and the development of slums, at a rate of 32.4 percent.
Followed by the transport sector, with a value of EGP 1.6 billion, or 25.9%, and the water resources and irrigation sector, EGP 624.1 million, or 10.1 percent, and the higher education and scientific research sector, EGP 365 million, or 5.9%, and the local development sector EGP 319 million, or 5.1%, and investments worth EGP 1.3 billion, or 20.6%, belong to other sectors.
The report pointed out that the most important development goals in the housing sector and the development of slums in North Sinai Governorate in the 21/2022 plan are to direct about EGP 458.5 million for drinking water and sanitation services.
The number of development projects in this sector amounts to 43, including the completion of the establishment of 17 development clusters in the governorate for EGP 755 million, in addition to developing slum areas in the governorate at EGP 100 million.
In the local development sector, the most important development goals are paving local roads with about EGP128.6 million, directing EGP 59 million to support the governorate’s electricity networks, in addition to directing EGP 15.5 million for environmental improvement services, and it is targeted to implement 34 development projects in this sector.
