The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development Holds an Expanded Seminar on "The Sustainable Developmental Role of Women in the New Republic"

The Equal Opportunities Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held the first expanded symposium, entitled "The Sustainable Developmental Role of Women in the New Republic", focusing on the fifth and eighth UN goals on gender equality, decent work, and economic growth.
The symposium was held under the auspices of Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and within the framework of the celebration of Egyptian Women's Day, and in cooperation with the Strategic Forum for Development and Social Peace.The sessions of the symposium discussed issues of sustainable development for Egyptian women and the pillars of women’s economic empowerment. The symposium also witnessed the strategic forum for the development and social peace honoring many mothers of the exemplary army and police martyrs in some governorates.During the session, Ambassador Hazem Khairat, Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, stressed the importance of international cooperation to reach the desired goals, explaining that cooperation between all international parties will inevitably lead to positive results at all development levels, especially issues related to achieving gender equality.
Khairat referred to the Egyptian state's efforts to strengthen international partnerships, by targeting the exchange of experiences to overcome development obstacles, and designing and implementing sustainable and diverse international programs aimed at achieving sustainable development for women, in cooperation with countries of the world and international organizations in various development fields concerned with women.
Khairat emphasized the efforts of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in this field, believing in the importance of positive returns to achieve sustainable development for women in all economic, social, and cultural aspects.
On her part, Dr. Shaima Siraj, Head of the Equal Opportunities Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, a presentation on the relationship of equal opportunities in achieving sustainable economic development, by addressing the development of the institutional stages on which the Equal Opportunities Unit was built in the ministry.Siraj also referred to the achievements of the Equal Opportunities Unit, which were based on three axes, including targeting the unit to invest in human capital through capacity building, preparation, and implementation of the institutional strengthening program for equal opportunities.Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, professor of economics at Cairo University and head of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, touched on the pioneering history of Egyptian women in achieving gender equality through the different eras representing the Egyptian civilization until the construction of the new republic, stressing that Egyptian woman has always had a historical precedent in reaching leadership. and take up positions.
Dr. Mona Zaki, strategic thought advisor and head of the Soft Powers Foundation for Artistic Production, explained the importance of the role of artistic production and dramas in creating and shaping public awareness.Zaki pointed out that the June 30 revolution was the dawn of the golden age for Egyptian women, and evidence of this is the approach taken by the Egyptian political will in dealing with the issue of women.
Ms. Azza Shalaby, Head of the Gender Unit at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, presented a presentation explaining the steps to support and empower women economically and socially in the Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprise Development Authority.
Dr. Samia Abul-Nasr, Assistant Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram and Secretary-General of the Strategic Forum for Development and Social Peace, also discussed the development efforts of Egyptian women, pointing to the challenges that may face women's march, related to education and participation in economic life.
The second session witnessed a review by Dr. Rawya Rizk, Vice President of Port Said University, who presented the digital transformation efforts in the new republic, and their positive role in achieving sustainable economic empowerment for women.
Dr. Margaret Sarofim, Head of the Local Development Sector at the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, also touched on the efforts of the Authority in bringing women to decent sustainable work, as well as the efforts of the Coptic Evangelical Authority in transferring employment to work in the formal sector.
