The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced, in a report issued by it, the features of the Citizen’s Investment Plan for the governorate of Alexandria for the year 21/2022, as part of the continuation of the announcement of the citizen’s plan in all governorates of the Republic for the third year in a row.

The announcement aims to educate citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year (21/2022), and its role in achieving “Egypt Vision 2030.”


Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, explained that the "Citizen Investment Plan" adopts the methodology of programs and performance, and evidence-based planning, as it provides detailed information on the most important development indicators at the level of each governorate, and its share of public investments in the plan for the fiscal year (21/2022). ).


El-Said added that the "Citizen Investment Plan" serves as an important database that helps citizens follow up on projects being implemented in their geographical scope (governor, center, village), to ensure the quality of their implementation following the best specifications and relevant standards, which contributes to activating community follow-up.


Regarding the Citizen Investment Plan in Alexandria Governorate, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the governorate amounts to 313 projects and that the value of public investments directed to Alexandria in the plan for the year 21/2022 amounted to EGP 26 billion, an increase of 44.4 percent over the plan for the year 20/2021.

Concerning the sectoral distribution of public investments targeted in Alexandria with the plan for the year 21/2022, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that investments worth  EGP 12.44 billion were directed to the transport sector, at a rate of 47.8%.
Followed by the petroleum sector, with a value of 3.9 billion pounds, or 15%, and investments in the housing and slum development sector amounting to EGP 3.2 billion, or 12.3 percent.
The higher education and scientific research sector enjoy an amount of EGP 2.95 billion, or 11.3 percent, and the local development sector, EGP 1.25 billion, or 4.8 percent. As for the other sectors, investments worth EGP 2.3 billion, or 8.8 percent, belong to them.


The report indicated that the most important development goals in the housing sector and the development of slums in Alexandria Governorate in the 21/2022 plan are to direct about EGP 1.39 billion for drinking water and sanitation services, and the number of housing sector projects is 54 projects.
The most important 100 projects of the local development sector in the governorate are directing about EGP 200 million to develop and raise the efficiency of the road system, paving roads and streets, and raising the efficiency of the Corniche, in addition to directing EGP 139 million to extend and strengthen the electricity network, and in the higher education and scientific research sector, it is targeted to implement 45 development projects.
