Egypt's NIGSD, Local Development Institute of South Korea sign an MoU in the field of capacity building for local government officials

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development - represented by Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of the Institute, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Local Development of South Korea, represented by Mr. Yoon Jong-jin, President of the Institute, to cooperate in the field of capacity building of government officials local.
Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance (NIGSD) and Sustainable Development, praised the efforts made for cooperation between the two parties, which dates back to 2008.
She pointed out that South Korea is following a distinguished path in achieving development and governance, and that this memorandum mainly aims to achieve leadership and creativity in building and developing human capabilities through holding a set of training programs in some fields; including supporting good governance, sustainable development and green transformation.
During her speech, El-Sherif reviewed the features of Egypt's Vision 2030 and the main milestones that it represents in the comprehensive development process in Egypt, and the reforms in various areas that link that vision to the future and work to adopt a clear development path to achieve sustainable growth.
El-Sherif stressed the importance of developing and rehabilitating the human element as an integral part of the construction process in the country, noting that the role of executive and technical training cannot be ignored as a basic pillar in the change process.

El-Sherif explained that he is taking upon himself the task of change, adopting a new approach to development and service provision, to become a regional knowledge center and have an effective role in implementing national strategies, foremost of which is the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt's Vision 2030.
El-Sherif added that the institute cooperates with the most prestigious educational and training institutions at the regional and international levels to provide the best training services, capacity building, education, research, and consultancy, especially in the areas of governance and sustainable development.
The signing, which took place via the video conference feature, was attended by Mr. Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources at the Institute, and from the Korean side, Mr. Noh Hong Seog, Director General of the Planning Department, Ms. Kim Heerion, Director of the Training and International Cooperation Department, and Ms. Ryo Il Sun, Deputy Director of the International Training Team, and Ms. Vivian Ahn, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Team.
