Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development witnesses the graduation of 4 batches of the Leadership for Government Excellence Program

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, witnessed on Monday the graduation of four batches of the "King's College" Leadership Program for Government Excellence.The ceremony was attended by Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), Dr. Ahmed Dalal, President of the American University in Cairo (AUC), Dr. Ghada Howaidi, Associate Dean of the School of Business Administration at AUC, and Dr. Dina Wafa, Executive Director of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, AUC.Dr. Hala El-Said explained that the program comes within the tripartite partnership that was signed in 2019 between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and two of the most prestigious universities; The American University in Cairo and King's College London.El-Said added that the challenges posed by many crises lead to radical changes on all fronts, explaining that one of the main components of sustainable resilience and future development is responsive, efficient, and service-centric public administration.El-Said stressed the importance of an active public sector to be effective across key areas, and this is what globalization, innovation, and green transformation require, in addition to geopolitical trends.El-Said explained that the unprecedented trend of technological changes is not only related to digital services, adding that the main challenge is to innovate the way of working. El-Said confirmed that the development undertaken by the government concerning digital services has contributed to essentially reducing the gap over the past few years.Moreover, El-Said drew attention to the government's keenness to invest in local cadres, to exchange experiences, explaining the importance of establishing new systems and developing a new culture for public administration.
At the end of her speech, El-Said addressed the graduates, saying: “Always remember that you are the key to supporting our government in providing a good service to our people, and this is a great responsibility,”.
