Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) –participated recently the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development - at the annual conference on sustainable development in its second edition; which is held by the Union of Industries and the Orman Association in Luxor Governorate from 2-5 March.During her speech, El-Sherif has reviewed an overview of NIGSD since 1956 and even the decision of the Prime Minister to rename the Institute on behalf of the "National Institute of Governance and Sustainable Development" to keep up with the priorities of the Egyptian state in the implementation of Egypt's vision 2030.El-Sherif explained that the vision of the Institute is to support and promote and develop good governance systems for competitiveness and sustainable development. NIGSD’s message also comes in promoting and developing Egypt's position in the area of governance and sustainable development by providing consulting, research, and training programs that seek and confirm the publication of culture, values, sustainability, and procedures.El-Sherif explained that NIGSD adopts a set of strategic objectives, including supporting and strengthening Egypt's performance and global classification in governance, competitiveness, sustainable development, and capacity-building in the areas of governance, competitiveness, and sustainable development. In addition to building the capabilities of women and those with inspiration and enabling them in all areas, research, data analysis and surveys,  as well as partnerships with research centers, national, regional, and international expertise, and consulting for governance practices in the public and private sector.


El-Sherif also reviewed the activities of the Institute in training and the development of human capacity, which comes from a twinning contract with both the National Institute of Public Administration in Spain and the Hertie School in Berlin.El-Sherif referred to the Institute's programs for the construction and development of capacity during 20/202. The number of trainees reached 40,500 trainees and the number of 576 training programs, including 17 programs executed outside the Republic.
El-Sherif has explained that the number of female trainees reached 22.151 per conducted by 56%, while total male trainees reached 18.349 trainees by 44%.She referred to the Egyptian Women's Leadership Program, which aims to enable promising women leaders and refine their expertise in dealing with contemporary challenges, and improving institutional and contributing to supporting government performance.
El- Sherif explained that 3.873 women were trained from 12 provinces and targeted the coverage of the rest of the provinces in 2022 as well as the launch of the national program for women's leaders during 2020.
On a "digital future" initiative, El-Sherif has made it aimed at bridging the gender gap by strengthening the role of Egyptian women in digital transformation and digital literacy through training of Egyptian universities and the government sector without discrimination.El-Sherif also referred to the African Network for Management and Training Institutes "Development" aimed at publishing the principles of good governance and contributing to the achievement of African agenda 2063.
The Network has succeeded in cooperating with many African countries, with training by default because of the spread of the Corona pandemic, and has planned and comprehensive design for all programs, training courses, and seminars.On the African Women's Leadership Program; El-Sherif explained that 3 copies were launched to train African leaders, adding that the Institute launched the Atingi education platform specifically for African countries intending to improve professional training by e-learning.
El-Sherif has also reviewed the initiatives and mechanisms for sustainable development and mechanisms of Egypt 2030 and governance, including an initiative for the deployment of sustainability, and the sustainable innovation laboratory as the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa.
El-Sherif asserted that NIGSD has affirmed the exchange of experiences with international institutions and taking advantage of the experiences of leading countries in the fields of management and governance and upgrading the level of employees of the State Administration.
