01 March 2022

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, signed recently a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with George Washington University in the United States of America in the field of building and developing human capacities.

The aforementioned (MoU) was signed by Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of NIGSD, and Dr. Ayman Al-Tarabishi, President and CEO of the International Small Business Center at George Washington University.
Following the signing of the MoU, Dr. Sharifa Sherif said that NIGSD’s partnership with relevant local and international institutions is of great importance in expanding its expertise and benefiting from the prestigious scientific institutions that have made great strides in the fields of training, capacity building, education, research, and consultancy.
Sherif added that the institute took upon itself the task of change and adopted a new approach to development and service provision, to become a regional center for knowledge and have an effective role in implementing national strategies, the most important of which is the "Sustainable Development: Egypt Vision 2030" strategy.
Sharif stressed that the development of the human factor is an integral part of the reform and construction process, in light of the pivotal role entrusted to state workers to implement these reforms and the readiness for the following consequences that affect the tasks entrusted to them.
Sherif referred to the areas of cooperation between the institute and George Washington University, following the memorandum of understanding, which are building and developing human capacities, research activities, advisory services, as well as sharing knowledge and networks of professional relations.
