Main / Media / News / EGYPT'S PLANNING MINISTRY RELEASES 'CITIZEN INVESTMENT PLAN' OF ASWAN IN FY 2021/22

20 February 2022

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced in a report issued by it the features of the Citizen's Investment Plan for the Aswan Governorate for the year 21/2022.
This is in the context of continuing to announce the citizen’s plan in all governorates of the Republic for the third year in a row, to educate citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year (21/2022), and its role in achieving “Egypt Vision 2030.”
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stressed that the launch of the "Citizen's Investment Plan" reflects the state's keenness to involve citizens in the efforts made to develop the planning and follow-up systems, to achieve sustainable and comprehensive development in a manner that contributes to addressing development gaps between the different governorates, settling sustainable development goals, and achieving the 17th  goal of the global sustainable development goals, "Partnerships to Achieve the Goals."

El-Said stressed that the citizen is the real axis of development, and therefore the necessity of empowering him and providing him with data on development programs and projects that the state is implementing.
El-Said added that the "Citizen's Investment Plan" serves as an important database that helps citizens follow up on projects being implemented in their geographical scope (governor, center, village), to ensure the quality of their implementation following the best specifications and relevant standards, which contributes to activating community follow-up.

Regarding the citizen’s investment plan in Aswan Governorate, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the governorate amounts to 283 projects and that the value of public investments directed to Aswan Governorate in the plan for the year 21/2022 amounted to EGP 8.1 billion, an increase of 2% over the plan of 20/2021.
About the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments in Aswan Governorate with the plan for the year 21/2022, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that investments worth EGP 2.2 billion were directed to the housing sector, at 27%, followed by the transportation sector, with a value of EGP 1.7 billion or 20.3%.
The investments of the irrigation sector amount to EGP 1.6 billion or 19.8%, the higher education sector is EGP 622 million or 7.6%, and the local development sector is EGP 476 million, or 5.8%, while the other sectors are allocated to investments worth EGP 1.6 billion by 19.8%.
The report pointed out that the most important development goals in the housing sector in Aswan Governorate in the 21/2022 plan are to direct about EGP 738.1 million for drinking water and sanitation services, and the number of housing sector projects is 54 projects. The number of development projects in the local development sector is 96.
