Launching the smart green initiative

Egypt’s National Initiative for Smart Green Projects (NISGP) is an innovative national model for localizing climate action and advancing sustainable development. Launched in 2022 to promote innovative climate solutions, aligning local innovation with national strategies and global climate commitments. Over its three successful rounds, NISGP has achieved a significant impact by providing strong support to green projects across the country—many of which have grown from local initiatives into national and international success stories.

The initiative focuses on raising awareness about climate change risks and building the capacities of individuals and institutions, enabling them to actively participate in climate action and design practical solutions for mitigation and adaptation. Through its collaborative approach, the NISGP strengthens partnerships among government entities, the private sector, civil society, and international organizations. As a result, it not only contributes to Egypt’s transition toward a green and resilient future but also offers a replicable model that other countries can adopt to accelerate their own climate action efforts.
