Egypt's Vision 2030 is based on the principles of "comprehensive sustainable development" and "balanced regional development," and Egypt's Vision 2030 reflects the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic dimension, the social dimension, and the environmental dimension.
At the beginning of 2018, the state decided to update its sustainable development agenda with the participation of various ministries, the private sector, and civil society organizations, and with the assistance of a number of the highest experts in various fields, in order to keep pace with the changes that occurred in the local, regional, and global context.
The second version of Egypt's Vision 2030 was concerned with becoming an inspiring vision that explains how the Egyptian contribution will serve the international agenda, and how that will serve the global context. The updated vision emphasizes addressing and intertwining all issues from the perspective of the three dimensions of sustainable development: environmental, economic, and social. It is a comprehensive and coherent vision consisting of sectoral strategies for various government agencies. Egypt Vision 2030 focuses on improving the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen and improving his standard of living in various aspects of life by emphasizing the consolidation of the principles of justice, social integration, and the participation of all citizens in political and social life. This comes hand in hand with achieving high, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth enhancing investment in people, and building their creative capabilities by urging increased knowledge, innovation, and scientific research in all fields.
Egypt's Vision 2030 gives importance to confronting the effects of climate change through the presence of an integrated and sustainable ecosystem that enhances resilience and the ability to confront natural risks. The vision also focuses on the governance of state institutions and society through administrative reform, consolidating transparency, supporting monitoring and evaluation systems, and empowering local administrations. All of these desired goals come within the framework of ensuring Egyptian peace and security and enhancing Egyptian leadership regionally and internationally.
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a report on the effort made by the ministry and its keenness to raise citizen awareness of the important steps the country has achieved to enhance the resilience and mitigate the repercussions of the COVID-19 virus on the citizens and the Egyptian economy, and the state’s efforts to confirm its commitment and loyalty to achieving sustainable development goals, and the state’s ability. To fulfill its international obligations in this regard, Egypt to move from the stage of formulating strategies that take an executive nature to formulate a national agenda for sustainable development that represents the cornerstone for the country to reach the desired development because the agendas have an inclusive and flexible nature, which gives them the ability to adapt to any situation. Variables or repercussions at all levels, because they are based on fixed main and sub-goals agreed upon globally, with a long-term future perspective, whose implementation priorities are arranged through variable inputs that are determined according to the requirements of each stage.
