Economic Census Policy Briefs
In collaboration with the Macroeconomic
Stabilization and Reform (MESR) project funded by the USAID and a group of
researchers and experts, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has
launched a research project to analyze the economic census data for the year
2017/2018. This project was conducted by the
Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera) to prepare policy
papers that provide useful recommendations in economic reform policies and
sustainable development with a main focus on a number of important pillars,
such as: Idle production capacities in the Egyptian economy, ways to maximize
operational capacity, investment in human capital and its impact on the economic
performance of the governorates, spatial concentration of economic activities,
determinants of informality in micro and small enterprises in Egypt and
Promoting value-added of companies for sustainable development in Egypt. In
addition to a number of policy papers that are specifically related to the
labor market in Egypt, such as: future employment needs, understanding the
gender gap in the Egyptian labor market, the gender dimension and its impact on
improving the performance of establishments, female labor force, and female
employment in the manufacturing sector.
